Connor’s Operation

Connor went to Knox Hospital yesterday. He had to get his adenoids removed, as well as having tubes put in his ears. Hopefully this will help with his chronic ear infections and maybe me and Mon will get a few decent nights sleep in a row :)

He was pretty brave, even though he kinda knew something was going on. He only started to cry when I actually put him on the operating table (I had to get kitted up in dodgy white overalls and funky blue overshoes and stuff to go into the theatre. Monique said “Oh shame we forgot the camera” at which point the nurse said “Oh, where is our camera?” and produced a polaroid, much to Monique’s amusement. I’ll scan the photo and put it up later) Anyway, he cried and screamed cos they put the mask on him, he was terrified screaming “Daddy, daddy” which was pretty horrible.

Anyway the operation went fine, he went in just after 8 and was back with us by 9. He was pretty groggy till about 9:45, then he started to wriggle a bit, and by ten o’clock he was up and walking around, albeit a littly drunkenly. We were supposed to stay for four hours, but they let us go home early cos by midday he had been running around the ward for an hour and was quite obviously OK.

The only question now is : how on earth do we keep him quiet for the prescribed three to four days???
