How Was Your Christmas?
Highlight of my Christmas : Me and Connor got an AFX slot car set. 11.3 metres of track, 3.8m x 2.1m when it’s laid out in the rough shape of the Bathurst race track. That is truly huge, it takes up half of our playroom which is a converted double garage. We also got some extra track bits from Uncle Mike, ie my brother, which means we’ve now converted Pit Straight into two Nascar style tightly cambered corners and an inclined straight . Moving Caltex Chase a bit further up the hill means we can now absolutely hammer around the bottom of the mountain :)
Ahem.
People have accused me of getting a present for Connor that I wanted, but I made sure that it was bought for me and Connor so we could share. And I’m not one of those dads that gets the track all set up and then won’t let the kids play. On the contrary, I wouldn’t mind a go now and then.
The other cool thing we got was a footy. Doesn’t seem like much, but my Mum who lives in country NSW managed to find us a proper Sherrin, so props to her for that effort :)
A link to keep you busy while you wait for the next holiday programme post (ie, irregular) : The Top 100 Toys amongst TV Cream readers. TV Cream being a UK based site dedicated to TV shows from the 60’s to the 80’s, so people who were kids then will have memories of at least some of these. I must be smack in the middle of that demographic, cos between me and the aforementioned Uncle Mike we owned a bit under a quarter of these, and bewailed our lot and envied the owners of probably half the remainder.
It’s taken me a fair while to get through that list though. Who ever thought lots of yellow text on a black background was a good idea? I’ve spent the last few days looking at life through the venetian blinds that were burned onto my retinas!
